The Royal National Park covers 16,000 hectares of spectacular scenery, which is a riot of colour in summer with more than 700 species of flowering plants.
Many parts of the park, including Audley, Wattamolla and Garie Beach, are easily accessible by car and popular for day trips.
But the best way to see Australia’s oldest national park is to explore on foot via the more than 150km of walking tracks.
One of the walks most easily accessible from Bundeena is the spectacular walk that tracks the coast for 23km south to Otford (of course you can do just short sections if time is limited).
Head to the end of Beachcomber Avenue, where there is a car park at the entrance to the Royal National Park. Follow the paved road until you reach a track to the left signposted for the coast. The cliffs are a 15-minute stroll from here. Take care not to walk too close to the cliff edges, especially if you have small children walking with you.
This is also a great spot during whale-watching season.
Guided tours with NPWS are available and bookings are recommended.
